In response to a directive from Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, the Patna High Court has implemented virtual and hybrid hearing options for counsels and parties involved in cases.

A notice dated 10th October 2023 informed that counsels interested in the 'virtual hybrid hearing" of listed cases can now exercise this option through the official website of the Patna High Court.

The designated time for virtual hearings is from 10:30 A.M to 11:00 A.M. Parties in person can also avail of this facility by following the prescribed procedure.

This initiative follows a recent order from the Supreme Court, issued on 6th October 2023, which directed all High Courts to ensure that no member of the bar is denied access to video conferencing facilities or hearing through hybrid means. The Apex Court granted a two-week period for all High Courts to comply with this directive.

The Patna High Court had initially introduced virtual hearings in early 2022 as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic, specifically after certain judges and staff members tested positive for the virus.
