In a significant step towards digitization and environmental sustainability, the Patna High Court has launched a state-wide “Leave Management System” for all Judicial Officers. This pioneering green e-initiative marks a departure from conventional paper-based processes.

In an official notice dated October 13, 2023, the Patna High Court announced the implementation of the Leave Management System software/module, which became mandatory for all Judicial Officers of the State of Bihar starting from October 16, 2023. After this date, physical leave applications for all types of leave will no longer be processed or entertained, except under exceptional circumstances.

Previously, the leave application process for Judicial Officers in Bihar relied on a manual application system. Officers submitted leave requests through handwritten or computer-typed applications. These applications would then navigate through various stages before reaching the sanctioning authority for approval, all of which was handled manually.

With the introduction of the Leave Management System, Judicial Officers will now be required to make all leave applications electronically. This shift towards a digital platform is aimed at streamlining and modernizing the leave application process, ensuring greater efficiency and accountability within the judicial system.
