A Court in Haryana’s Nuh District today sent Cow vigilante/Bajrang Dal leader Raj Kumar (alias Bittu Bajrangi) to one-day police custody a day he was arrested by state police in connection with the communal clashes that occurred during a religious yatra in the district on July 31.
Bajrangi was arrested on Tuesday in a fresh FIR lodged against him on a complaint by ASP alleging that he misbehaved and threatened the ASP Kundu-led police team after he was stopped by them from carrying swords and trishools.
Allegedly, Bajrangi, along with a mob of around 20 people carrying swords and trishools, was marching to Nalhar temple when he was stopped by the police team, and their weapons were snatched and seized. Thereafter, the mob started raising slogans against the police and manhandled the team.
As per the allegations, Bajrangi and others forcibly opened the gates of the police vehicles, took back the weapons and threatened to kill all of them.
It may be noted that Bajrangi has also been accused of spreading violence in Nuh by giving provocative speeches.
He was earlier arrested by the Faridabad police in connection with another case related to the Nuh violence, however, he was released on bail after he joined the probe in the matter.
Bajrangi is facing charges under Sections 148 (riots), 149 (unlawful assembly), 323 (causing hurt), 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant), 186 (obstructing a public servant from discharging duty) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC. He also also been booked under the Arms Act.
