The National Lok Adalat, organized by the Ranchi Civil Court, marked a remarkable achievement on Saturday, as it successfully resolved a staggering number of legal cases and distributed compensation to victims under the Jharkhand Victims Compensation Act.

Under the guidance of Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority (JHALSA) Executive Chairman Justice S Chandrashekhar, the Adalat dispensed justice by settling more than 91,000 cases, encompassing pre-litigation and litigation suits. The total settlement amount in various suits reached a substantial sum of over Rs 123 crore.

Notable dignitaries, including Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad and Justice Navneet Kumar, joined Justice S Chandrashekhar at the Ranchi Civil Court to observe the National Lok Adalat's proceedings and inspect the Lok Adalat itself. To ensure the Adalat's smooth operation, 25 benches were presided over by judicial magistrates, and 19 benches were led by executive magistrates.

The event witnessed the distribution of approximately Rs 65 lakh among 35 victims in accordance with the Jharkhand Victims Compensation Act. The beneficiaries were urged by the DALSA Secretary to utilize the compensation judiciously for the betterment of their children's future.

The disposal figure of the whole state of Jharkhand is as follows: 

The cases which were taken up and disposed of during 3rd National Lok Adalat were related to Forest, Excise, Bank, Railways, Criminal Compoundable, Revenue, and Measure, Matrimonial, Civil and others.

Simultaneously, the Jharkhand High Court also hosted a National Lok Adalat, resolving a total of 77 cases. The event featured the distribution of appointment letters to 11 beneficiaries and a settlement amount of Rs 11,16,500.

In total, more than 91 thousand cases were successfully settled during the National Lok Adalat, with a settlement amount exceeding Rs 123 crore. Additionally, over 6 lakh 38 thousand beneficiaries reaped the benefits of various schemes, amounting to more than Rs 174 crore.

The diligent preparation for this event commenced on July 1, involving pre-conciliation meetings and collaborations between disputing parties from July 9 onwards. District Legal Services Authorities worked diligently to ensure the program's success and held multiple meetings with district officials.

This National Lok Adalat has made significant strides in delivering justice and compensation to those in need, furthering the cause of legal justice in the region.
