The National Lok Adalat, organized on September 9, under the aegis of the National Legal Services Authority and the Bihar State Legal Services Authority, saw resounding success in Patna and its surrounding areas.
The event was presided over by Rajeev Ranjan, District and Sessions Judge and Chairman of the District Legal Services Authority in Patna.
This Lok Adalat was not limited to Patna Sadar but also extended its reach to Patna City, Danapur, Bad, Masaurhi, and Paliganj within the Patna Justice Division.
A total of 18 benches were set up in Patna Sadar, while Patna Justice Board had 43 benches to handle various cases. During this event, 84 claims were resolved, resulting in a mutual settlement of Rs 10 crore 6 lakh sixty-five thousand between claimants and insurance companies. Moreover, 1249 cases under the Negotiable Instruments Act were settled with the consent of both parties.
Bank and BSNL disputes, totaling 2229 cases, were resolved through mutual agreement between the authorized officers of these companies and the borrowers, resulting in a recovery of Rs 206,160,145 from various banks within the Patna Judiciary. Additionally, 1231 criminal suits were settled in the Lok Adalat with the consent of both parties.
The Lok Adalat successfully addressed 11 land dispute cases and 381 cases related to PESU (electricity), recovering a total of two crore fifty-two lakh eighty-seven thousand sixty-five rupees. In total, 2956 post-litigation and 2229 pre-litigation cases were disposed of in the Patna Judicial Division, thanks to the efforts of judicial officers, advocates, panel advocates, para-legal volunteers, and officials from various insurance companies and banks.
In another National Lok Adalat held in Patna Judiciary, 5185 cases were settled through mutual agreement, resulting in a settlement of Rs 39 crore 13 lakh 2304. These cases covered a range of issues, including bank loans, vehicle accidents, insurance claims, and more.
This successful Lok Adalat featured 43 benches that heard cases related to vehicle accident claims, check bounce cases, bank loans, civil matters involving electricity and telephone departments, and criminal conciliation cases. It led to the disposal of 2956 pending court cases and 2229 cases that had not yet been filed in any court.
The event received commendable support and participation from the public, judicial officials, representatives from banks and insurance companies, and government department officials.
The benches were presided over by various judges, including ADJ Kamlesh Chandra Mishra, Yogesh Sharan Tripathi, Brijesh Kumar Pathak, Rakesh Kumar Tiwari, Rajesh Kumar Dwivedi, Rajendra Kumar Sinha, Chhedi Ram, Raj Vijay Singh, Additional Chief Justice Mohammad Salim, CGM Akhilesh Pandey, and Sub Judge Sarika Bahalia and Jabeen Jamal.
