Under the guidance of Justice K. Vinod Chandran, Chief Justice, Patna High Court, cum Patron in Chief, Bihar State Legal Services Authority, Patna (BSLSA), and Justice Chakradhari Sharan Singh, Executive Chairman, BSLSA, Patna, the fourth and final National Lok Adalat of the year 2023 concluded on 09.12.2023.

Both justices visited Civil Courts at Banka and Bhagalpur and Sub-division at Naughachia (Bhagalpur), engaging with litigants during the National Lok Adalat.

In adherence to NALSA guidelines, the Bihar State Legal Services Authority organized the National Lok Adalat in Patna High Court, all Civil Courts, and Sub-Divisional Courts in Bihar.

The National Lok Adalat addressed the following types of cases (pre-litigation and pending):

- Pre-litigation cases: N.I. Act Cases under Section 138, Bank Recovery Cases, Labour disputes cases, Electricity and water bills (excluding non-compoundable), and others.

- Post-Litigation or Pending Cases in the Courts: Criminal Compoundable Offences, N.I. Act cases under Section 138, Bank Recovery Cases, MACT cases, Labour Dispute Cases, Electricity and water bills (excluding non-compoundable), Matrimonial cases (except divorce), Land Acquisition cases, and other Civil cases which can be disposed of in National Lok Adalat.

Ms. Shilpee Soniraj, Member Secretary, BSLSA, shared that all the Districts showed commendable results. Data received from all 37 District Legal Services Authorities of Bihar for 09.12.2023 is as follows:

A) Details of cases disposed of on 09.12.2023

1) Total Benches constituted in Bihar: 569

2) Total Cases disposed of (Pre and Post Litigation) on 09.12.2023: 86,085.

3) Total settlement Amount: Rs. 2,41,43,48,245/-


B) Total cases of National Lok Adalat disposed of in the year 2023

1) Total Cases disposed of (Pre-litigation cases and Post Litigation cases): 357,765

2) Total settlement Amount: Rs 10,52,93,94,493/-
