The Supreme Court Collegium has remitted the name of one lawyer who was proposed for elevation to the High Court.

While the name of Advocate Krishnendu Datta was remitted to High Court, the Collegium comprising of CJI Ranjan Gogoi, Justice SA Bobde and Justice NV Ramana deferred the proposal to elevate Advocate Saurabh Kirpal.

These names were proposed by the Collegium of the Delhi High Court on 13th October, 2017 along with seven other lawyers. The SC collegium had deferred the consideration regarding these names.

The resolution of the meeting held on Monday reads: "On the basis of material on record and having regard to all relevant factors, the Collegium is of the considered view that the proposal for elevation of Shri Krishnendu Datta, Advocate, deserves to be remitted to the Delhi High Court. The Collegium resolves to recommend accordingly. The proposal for elevation of Shri Saurabh Kirpal, Advocate is deferred."
