National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) on Thursday organised consultative exercises with legal aid functionaries operating at district level in Kolkata.

"Alok Aggarwal, Member Secretary and Sunil Chauhan Director NALSA held discussions with regard to organisational practices and management of Front Offices ,legal services clinics, court based legal services and outreach legal services activities and implementation of legal services programmes," a communication said.

The consultation was attended by Durga Khaitan, Member Secretary of West Bengal Legal Services Authority, along with the Secretaries of all District Legal Services Authorities, panel advocates and para legal volunteers.

Among other things, the following issues were discussed:

  • Implementation of "front office guidelines", on the upgradation of front offices into one stop centres for legal aid seekers.
  • Enhancing quality of legal aid.
  • Devising implementation of outreach programmes with a targeted approach.
  • Implementation of victim compensation scheme.
