Gujarat State Legal Services Authority has launched "Music Therapy Cum Vocational Guidance/Training" Programme for jail inmates, particularly convicts languishing behind bars for a long time at Sabarmati Central Jail, Ahmedabad.

GSLSA has launched the programme under the guidance and stewardship of Justice Aravind Kumar, Patron-in-Chief, Gujarat State Legal Services Authority and Justice Sonia Gokani, Executive Chairperson, GSLSA.  

According to the press release, the Programme has been launched to motivate and heal the inmates with music therapy in association with Upasana School of Performing Arts, Gujarat University. It is proposed on a pilot project basis to provide vocational guidance to jail inmates of Sabarmati Central Jail at Ahmedabad and it is planned to gradually widen the span of the project by introducing it in other jails in the State. 

The project was inaugurated at Central Jail Sabarmati on 21st January 2023 in a function attended by Justice Gokani, along with other Judges of Gujarat High Court, DIG (Prison) Ahmedabad, Ashwin Chauhan, Superintendent of Police, Sabarmati Jail, Tejas Patel, Co-ordinator of Upasana School of Performing Arts, Gujarat University Viraj A. Bhatt and other dignitaries.
