The Madras High Court has recently announced that it will commence virtual hearings for all the cases starting from March 3rd.
In a notification issued by the Registrar General, it was informed that this facility is in addition to the already available facility at request on any day. Thos facility has been introduced with an objective of providing the benefit and option of virtual access to High Courts to all.
The notification reads as under,
"Advocates, Parties-in-person, litigants and all concerned are hereby informed that with a view to provide the benefit and option of virtual access to the High Court to all these stakeholders on one day of the week, necessary facilities for participating in hearings in all the Courts on virtual/hybrid modes will be available until further notice, on all Fridays commencing from 03.03.2023. This is an additional facility, apart from the vc-link, already available at request on any day."
Following a decline in the Covid-19 pandemic, the Madras High Court had resumed physical hearing from March 7th last year.
However persons with disability and lawyers who were senior citizens or had other inconvenience could appear virtually after informing the court staff in advance.
