The Madhya Pradesh High Court on Tuesday released an Indore-resident, apprehended for lockdown violation, on bail provided that he renders "voluntary services" for a week.
The bench of Justice Prakash Shrivastava directed that Dilip Vishwakarma, a grocery shop-owner, should be released on bail on furnishing a personal bond in the sum of Rs.35,000/- with one surety in the like amount to the satisfaction of the Trial Court for his appearance as and when directed.
In addition to this, the court directed him to contribute Rs. 10,000/- towards the PM CARES Fund and also to render voluntary services for a week.
"The applicant will donate Rs.10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand) in the Prime Minister Cares Fund as voluntarily offered by him and will also do service as volunteer for a period of one week for at least three hours per day, as may be directed by the concerned SDM to whom he will duly inform this condition without any delay," the bench ordered.
The applicant had been apprehended on the allegations of opening his grocery shop during the lock down period and letting customers to gather there, without following the social distancing norm.
In his defence, the applicant had submitted that his residence and shop were located in the same building and that is why customers had collected in front of his shop. He also submitted that he had realized the importance of lock down and was willing to volunteer for some time.
Recently, the Jharkhand High Court had allowed on a condition to donate to 'PM CARES Fund' and download the 'Aarogya Setu App'.
