A plea has been moved in the Kerala High Court by a rape victim seeking the Court to issue directions to platforms such as Google an Indian Kanoon to ensure that the materials disclosing her identity as a rape victim are removed or hidden appropriately so as to protect her right to privacy guaranteed under Article 21 of the Constitution of India.

The matter is before the Single Judge Bench of Justice Shaji P. Chaly

The plea further seeks the issuance of a direction to the Kerala High Court to hide any material/information in the writ petition, which would disclose her identity as a rape victim, before publishing it by way of case status or judgment in the website owned and maintained by the High Court, and the National Informatics Centre (NIC).

As the petitioner sought time to implead the Managing Director of Google India Pvt. Ltd. and Yahoo India Pvt. Ltd. in the case, the Court has now posted the matter for further consideration on March 9, 2023.

Case Title: xxxxx v. High Court of Kerala
