The Dindoshi branch of Bombay City Civil and Session Court today adjourned to July 1 the pronouncement of order on the application for anticipatory bail moved by Binoy Kodiyeri, son of Kerala State Secretary of Communist Party of India (Marxist) Kodiyeri Balakrishnan.

Police has been ordered not to arrest him till then.

Binoy has filed the application seeking pre-arrest bail in a crime registered by Oshiwara police for rape and cheating. A Mumbai resident has accused him of having cheated her into sexual relationship with a false promise of marriage.

She claimed she had an eight-year-old son from the affair, which commenced when she was working in a bar hotel in Dubai in 2009. In her complaint made to Oshiwara police on June 13, she said that she was not aware that Binoy was already married until recently when she happened to see his Facebook photos with his wife.

She has also released documents showing monthly payments credited by him to her bank account over past several years.

Although Mumbai police had reached Kerala in pursuit of Binoy, he had absconded, and they chose to await the verdict on his bail plea before issuing 'look-out notice'.

The issue has put the state leadership of CPII(M) in a spot, with the opposition targeting the party leadership.

Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has responded by stating that the case had nothing to do with the party or its leadership, as it was a personal issue of his son. Balakrishnan also added that neither he nor the CPI(M) will protect Binoy.
