The Karnataka High Court, on Wednesday has stayed till July 11, criminal proceedings initiated against S Jaikanth, administrator of Facebook page, Troll Maga, and directed his immediate release. The police arrested him for allegedly posting abusive and insulting, posts against JD(S) party chief HD Deve Gowda, Chief minister HD Kumaraswamy and his son and leader from the party, Nikhil Kumaraswamy.

Justice PS Dinesh Kumar on Wednesday, passed the directions while hearing the plea seeking to quash the second FIR registered by the police on June 23, based on the complaint made by Raviraj from the JD(S) IT wing.

The court also observed that there was gross violation of the apex court's guidelines, the high-handedness of police showed that the edifice of rule of law has been broken in the state and there appears to be a police raj.

The police had arrested jaikanth, an engineer by profession, in the second complaint on the same set of facts as are mentioned in the first complaint. He has been granted anticipatory bail by a sessions court, in relation to the first complaint.

The first FIR was registered on May 26, based on a complaint lodged by Pradeep Kumar SP, general secretary, JD(S) legal cell.
