The Karnataka Government on Thursday announced that it has decided to make it mandatory for schools, colleges and Universities in the state, whether government aided or private, to read daily the Preamble of the Constitution of India.

It also said that the officers of the State Government have been instructed to stick a copy of the preamble of the Constitution in every office of the departments.

Speaking to reporters Social Welfare Minister HC Mahadevappa said “Keeping in mind the freedom struggle, the idea behind writing of the Constitution, the people, especially the youth at schools, colleges and universities -- whether it is government, aided or private -- should compulsorily read the Preamble of the Constitution.

He also tweeted about the decision of the Cabinet of making the reading of the preamble of the constitution and pasting of portraits in government offices.
