Justice Rajendra Menon, former Chief Justice of Delhi High Court, has been appointed as the Chairperson of Armed Forces Tribunal.

Earlier, on September 30, Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi had told in open court that Justice Rajendra Menon had been recommended to the post. On this, the Attorney General K K Venugopal submitted that the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) will clear the recommendation.

The former Chairperson Justice Virender Singh retired on October 6.

Justice Menon had retired from his post as Delhi High Court Chief Justice last May. He was appointed as the CJ of Delhi HC in August 2018.

He was elevated as an additional judge of the Madhya Pradesh High Court on April 1, 2002. He was made permanent judge of the High Court on March 21, 2003.
