The Governor of Karnataka, Thawar Chand Gehlot on Saturday administered the oath of office to Justice Prasanna B. Varale as the Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court.

The Collegium had recommended Justice Varale's elevation on September 28. Following which on October 11, the Department of Justice of Ministry of Law and Justice notified his appointment.

About Justice Varale

Justice Prasanna B. Varale was born on 23rd June, 1962 at Nipani. He graduated in Arts and Law from Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University.

Justice Varale enrolled as an Advocate on 12th August, 1985 and served as lecturer in Law at Ambedkar Law College, Aurangabad from 1990 to 1992. He also worked as Assistant Government Pleader and Additional Public Prosecutor, High Court Bench at Aurangabad and as Additional Standing Counsel for Union Of India. He was elevated as a judge of  Bombay High Court in July 2008.
