President of India has appointed Justice Ponugoti Naveen Rao as the Chief Justice of Telangana as he is the senior most judge serving the Telangana High Court. This si consequent to the elevation of Chief Justice Ujjal Bhuyan to the Supreme Court. However, Justice P. Naveen Rao will be the acting as the Chief Justice of Telangana only for a single day, as he is set to bid adieu to the Telangana High upon his retirement, on the 14 July 2023.
He will be succeeded by Justice Abhinand Kumar Shavili, the senior most puisne Judge of Telangana High Court.
