The Supreme Court Collegium on December 13, 2022, had recommended Justice Mishra's elevation as Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court.
Justice Mishra, whose parent High Court is Orissa High Court, is currently a judge of the Uttarakhand High Court.

Justice Mishra was born on 29.12.1961 and completed his LL.B. from Law Faculty, Delhi University in 1987. From March, 1988, he started practice in Bolangir District Courts under the guidance of his father Markanda Mishra. He secured the 1st position in the Recruitment Examination for District Judges from Bar and on 16.2.1999 joined as Additional District & Sessions Judge, Jeypore.
He also worked as District & Sessions Judge, Sundergarh, Dhenkanal, Special Judge (CBI), Bhubaneswar and joined as Registrar General of Orissa High Court.
He was elevated as Judge of the Orissa High Court on 07.10.2009.
Justice Mishra was transferred to High Court of Uttarakhand on 11.10.2021 and was also appointed as the Acting Chief Justice of High Court of Uttarakhand on 24.12.2021 and held the office till 28.06.2022.
