IDIA Scholar, Yamuna Menon who graduated in law from NLSIU Bangalore this year, bagged as many as 18 Gold Medals and was declared the University Topper, at NLSIU's XXVIII Annual Convocation.

She has been awarded the title of 'Best Outgoing Under-Graduate Student' among others, and has been awarded medals for excellence in the following subjects: (i) Business & Corporate Laws; (ii) Torts Law; (iii) Public Law; (iv) Constitutional Law; (v) Contracts Law; (vi) Criminal Law; and (vii) Property Law.

Yamuna, hailing from Udayamperoor Town near Cochin, has always been a bright student. She secured an overall percentage of 95.8% in her Higher Secondary School Examinations and the 28th rank in CLAT 2015.

She got in touch with IDIA after reading about its Trust and Objectives in a newspaper article, and has been associated with the IDIA Kerala Chapter since.

At Law School, Yamuna participated in debates, Model United Nations, and various other activities. She has a working internship experience from being associated with social institutions to interning at Corporate Law firms like Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co and Economic Laws Practice. She has also been a Judicial Intern at Office of Dr. Justice D.Y. Chandrachud, Supreme Court of India.

She has been editor-in-chief of Indian Journal of International Economic Law. Her article on the exploitative Sumangali scheme in Tamil Nadu textile industry has been published in the Cambridge Law Review.

She was motivated by a Senior Advocate in the Supreme Court of India to consider law as a career option. As of now, she has plans to do a Masters in a college abroad in the future, which will help her to eventually become an academic.
