On 9th September, 2023, Haryana State Legal Services Authority organized its 3rd National Lok Adalat for the year 2023 across the State of Haryana. The National Lok Adalat was organized in 22 Districts and 34 Sub-Divisions of Haryana. Several cases were taken up pertaining to "Civil, Criminal, Matrimonial, Bank Recovery, MACT, petty offences, summary, traffic challan, NI Act etc." including the cases of Permanent Lok Adalats (Public Utility Services) working in the ADR Centres. The purpose of holding National Lok Adalat is to facilitate a platform to the litigants to settle their disputes amicably.
On the day of National Lok Adalat, Mr. Justice Arun Palli, Judge, Punjab & Haryana High Court and Executive Chairman, HALSA alongwith Sh. Subhas Mehla, Ld. Member Secretary, Dr. Kavita Kamboj, Ld. Joint Member Secretary, HALSA, other officers from High Court and other support staff of HALSA monitored the Lok Adalats through video conferencing. Lordship interacted with the Benches as well as with the parties and gave guidelines to the Benches.
Best wishes were conveyed to the benches for conducting the National Lok Adalat successfully and they were encouraged to settle maximum number of cases in National Lok Adalat. The Ld. District and Sessions judges, Judicial Officers, Bank Officials, representatives from Insurance Companies, Bar Members, Support staff of courts and other personal staff was also appreciated for putting in their efforts to make the National Lok Adalat successful. It was also emphasized that Lok Adalat is an effective alternative dispute resolution method for ensuring quick and final consensual disposal of cases binding on the parties without incurring any extra cost or fees. Lok Adalats not only settle pending dispute or disputes going to arise between parties but it also ensures social harmony as parties to dispute settle their cases amicably to their full satisfaction.
In the National Lok Adalat, 151834 cases were taken up and 1,22,969 cases were disposed of at pre-litigative stage. Total amount of Rs. 7740569479 were settled.
That apart, 260518 pending cases were taken up and out of 1,91,247 cases were decided. Total amount of Rs. 17,82,181,436 were settled.
Total No. of 314216 cases both at pre litigative and pending stage were settled thereby settling total amount of Rs. 9522750915/- between the parties. This has also been the highest number of cases settled in the National Lok Adalat held till date in the State of Haryana.
