Today, i.e on 17th November, 2020, Haryana State Legal Services Authority commenced a 20 hours online Refresher Training Programme for Mediators. The Refresher training programme is scheduled for 5 days i.e. from 17.11.2020 to 21.11.2020 for Advocates-cum-Mediators of 5 Districts namely Ambala, Gurugram, Fatehabad, Karnal and Fatehabad.
The programme started with the inaugural address by Justice Chaudhary, wherein her lordship addressed the Judicial Officers, Senior Trainers, Potential Trainers, Officials and others through video conferencing. During her address lordship stated that the awareness of mediation is essential and the role of Advocates is very important in making mediation and conciliation easy and successful. Her Lordship stated that during the mediation training, Mediators will be made aware about benefit of mediation which in turn will dispel the doubts from their minds. Her lordship talked about the concept of mediation at length explaining its importance as well as quoting its significance from scriptures and mythology.
During the address Mrs. Justice Daya Chaudhary, Judge, Punjab and Haryana High Court and Executive Chairperson, Haryana State Legal Services Authority informed that there are total 283 trained Advocate Mediators and 202 Judge Mediators in the State of Haryana, who are performing mediation effectively and efficiently by following due procedure as per Mediation Rules. Her lordship also said that if the disputes are settled by mediation and conciliation efficiently and in cost effective manner then it would increase the faith of people in the system and more people are likely to come to the Courts for Redressal of their grievances. Her lordship defined the mediation at pre litigative as well during pendency of litigation at any stage, as an unique tool wherein a 3rd party who has no interest in upcoming or pending litigation by interaction with both the conflicting parties change the thought process of these parties thereby coming to an amicable settlement which is suggested by conflicting parties to end the litigation. Her lordship stated that importance of achieving positive thinking is yet another plus point of mediation which is an outcome of mediation process as mediation helps in personality development of parties as well as of mediator from problem creator to solution finder.
The course content of the 20 hours online Refresher Training Programme for Mediators will include topics like Virtual Mediation, Functional Stages of Mediation, Conflict Management, Mediation concept and component etc.
The refresher training programme will conclude on 21st November, 2020.
