A Varanasi court on Tuesday dismissed a criminal revision plea seeking registration of criminal cases against Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav and AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi over their alleged controversial remarks concerning the 'Shiva Linga', purportedly found inside Gyanvapi Mosque premises in Varanasi in 2022.

Addl. District & Sessions Judge Varanasi Vinod Kumar rejected the revision plea filed by Advocate Hari Shankar Pandey. A detailed order is awaited.

It may be noted that Revisionist-Pandey moved the instant revision plea after the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate-V (MP-MLA) Ujjwal Upadhyaya dismissed his application filed under 156 (3) CrPC in February last year.

In his revision plea, the revisionist (Advocate Hari Shankar Pandey) had sought registration of an FIR/case against Yadav and Owaisi for allegedly inciting religious hatred by making 'controversial' remarks regarding the structure found inside the Gyanvapi Mosque premises (alleged 'Shiva Linga').

It is his case that SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and Owaisi, his brother, and many others were making objectionable remarks against the 'Shiva linga', which resulted in hurting the sentiments of Hindus.

However, the ADJ's Court rejected the revision plea, finding no case of hate speech against Yadav and Owaisi.
