The Gujarat High Court has issued a notification informing that it has decided to resume the physical functioning of the Court from August 17, 2021.

A notification issued in this regard states thus:

"The Hon'ble Chief Justice, after due deliberation with the Standing Committee of the High Court of Gujarat and considering the latest data pertaining to Corona Virus Cases in the State of Gujarat, has been pleased to announce resumption of physical functioning of the High Court of Gujarat w.e.f. 17th August 2021 subject to congenial situation prevailing at that time."

The Notification also states that the Standard Operating Procedures in this regard will be released shortly after deliberation with all stakeholders.

The Gujarat High Court Advocates' Association had, last month, resolved to boycott all official functions of the High Court such as Full Court reference, oath ceremony of the Chief Justice, or any Judges except those personally invited by the judge designate and Lok Adalats due to non-resumption of Physical Hearing.

Noting that a resolution in this regard has been made public by the Association, it states thus:

"GHAA unanimously resolves to boycott all official functions which may be organized by the High Court of Gujarat such as Full Court reference, oath ceremony of the Hon'ble Chief Justice or any Hon'ble Judges except those personally invited by the judge designate and Lok Adalats. It is further resolved not to accord any welcome or farewell to any Hon'ble judge either on appointment, elevation, or retirement."
