Gujarat High Court To Formally Launch Live Streaming Of Court Proceedings; CJI NV Ramana To Inaugurate Event On July 17

The Gujarat High Court will formally launch live streaming of its proceedings on July 17. On this occasion, the Live Streaming Rules of the High Court will also be released.
With this, the Gujarat High Court will become the first High Court in the Country that would stream its proceedings live.
While the Chief Justice of India, N. V. Ramana will be gracing the occasion as the Chief Guest and inaugurate the live streaming of Court Proceedings of the High Court, Dr. Justice D. Y. Chandrachud, Judge, Supreme Court of India & Chairman, e-committee of the Supreme Court of India will also be present as the Guest of Honour.
Also, Justice M. R. Shah, Judge, Supreme Court of India will be present in the online inaugural function as Special Guest.
CJI will also release "The High Court of Gujarat (Live Streaming of Court Proceedings) Rules, 2021".
The proceedings of the function will be live-streamed on the official YouTube Channel of the High Court of Gujarat at https://www.youtube.com/c/GujaratHighCourtLive at 05.30 PM on 17 th July, 2021.
The press release also states thus:
"Thanks to the success of this live streaming experiment, to take forward the implementation of this initiative for the rest of the willing Benches of the High Court, live streaming rules were framed and approved by the Full Court [Chamber Meeting] of the High Court on 20 th June, 2021"
It may be noted that Gujarat High Court last year begin streaming of CJ led Bench's and this has continued for more than eight months so far with more than 65000 subscribers and 41 lac views received by the official YouTube Channel of the High Court of Gujarat.
Referring to its initiative to live stream its proceedings lived, the Gujarat High Court's notification read:
"Being guided and inspired by the noble spirit enshrined in the judgment of the Honourable Supreme Court of India dated 26/09/2018 in Swapnil Tripathi vs Supreme Court Of India [Writ Petition (Civil) No. 1232/2017], the High Court of Gujarat, with a view to effectuating and broadening the implementation of Open Court concept even during the virtual hearings, proceedings of the First Court of the High Court of Gujarat were started to be telecast live on an experimental basis, from 26th October 2020 on Youtube through the official channel of the High Court. Since then, the experimental live streaming of the First Court has been going on very smoothly with encouraging response and positive feedback from all concerned."
