Following the surge of Covid-19 cases in the State of Assam and in order to ensure preventive course in the court premises, the Gauhati High Court has started functioning in virtual mode from today. During the virtual mode, the Judges will conduct the court proceedings from their respective chambers. This was informed vide notification no. 01, dated 5th January, 2022. Only limited number of cases will be listed during virtual mode of hearing. Moreover, wearing of masks and maintaining of social distancing is mandatory within the premises of the High Court and all lawyers, litigants, members of staff, security staff, etc. having taken both the doses of Covid-19 vaccine, shall be allowed to enter the High Court premises.
A committee has also been constituted to work out the modalities with regard to functioning of the subordinate courts; and necessary guidelines will be issued shortly.
