The Gauhati High Court has sought response of Health and Family Welfare Department of State of Assam in respect of vaccination status of persons who are not having proper identification documents.
A division bench comprising of Chief Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia and Justice Manash Ranjan Pathak directed the Assam Government to file affidavit within two weeks.
The Court also sought response as to in what manner the second dose of vaccination would be given to such persons by the State.
"Learned standing counsel, Health & Family Welfare Department, shall file an affidavit within two weeks apprising this Court as to how many persons, who are not having proper documents in support of their identification, have been vaccinated and, in that event, as to how the second dose of vaccination would be given to such persons and in what manner." The Court ordered.
Accordingly, the matter was adjourned to August 16.
In a related news, the Court had recently directed the jail authorities to vaccinate inmates, who were remaining for covid 19 vaccination locked inside different jails in the State of Assam, as early as possible. The Court took note of the list highlighting the vaccination details of 11,398 persons locked up in the jails.
Similarly, the Rajasthan High Court had recently asked the State Government to chalk out a plan for vaccinating Pakistani Minority Migrants.
