While seeking bail before the Bombay High Court in the NDPS case against her, actor Rhea Chakraborty has made fresh allegations against Sushant Sing Rajput's family members and stated that from the evidence collected by the investigating agencies, it is clear that he was the only consumer of drugs and he used others around him to facilitate his drug habit.
The 28-year-old actor who was remanded to judicial custody for a second time on Tuesday referred to the remand application and replies filed by the prosecution. Her application alleges-
"The said documents clearly indicate that Sushant Sing Rajput was the only consumer of drugs and that he was directing his staff members, Samuel Miranda and Dipesh Sawant to procure his drugs. Apart from that, the prosecution has made statements to the effect that applicant and her brother Showik are used by the late actor to procure drugs for himself."
Rhea's application also states that based on the information available in public domain, one Neeraj, who worked as a cook for the late actor has stated to CBI and Mumbai police that three days before his death, Sushant Singh Rajput had asked him to make ganja joints/doobies and place them in his bedroom. Accordingly, Neeraj prepared the joints and kept them in a box in Sushant's bedroom. When Sushant died, Neeraj checked and found the box to be empty.
The application states-
"Therefore, it is clear from the evidence collected by the investigating agencies that it was only the late Sushant Singh Rajput who was the consumer of the drugs and who was in habit of using those around him to facilitate his drug habit."
Alleging that she and her brother are being targeted in a witch hunt, the applicant alleged that Sushant Singh Rajput had told her that he developed a large liking for Ganja sometime in 2015-16 during the shooting of Kedarnath. She urged the prosecution to investigate how the late actor used to manage his drug consumption through his staff which was hired by him and his sister Priyanka, prior to meeting the applicant.
Applicant also reiterated her allegations against Sushant's sister Priyanka. She alleged that Priyanka drank copious amounts of alcohol one night in April 2019 and groped her. Because of this incident, Sushant confronted his sister and the relationship between Sushant and his family soured after this incident. According to Rhea's application, after this incident Sushant was worried that his brother-in-law OP Singh who is an IPS Officer, would use his influence to coerce and threaten him.
She has also alleged that Sushant's father had remarried when he was very young which strained their relationship and as a result they seldom spoke. His mother was suffering from Depression and his sister Priyanka also takes medication for some illness, the application states. Moreover, she has alleged that Sushant suspected his father was suffering from bipolar disorder himself.
The application also states that on 30th May 2020, a blind item/article was published in Mumbai Mirror, Times of India about Sushant, calling him a difficult person to work with and that people had several issues with his attitude. This disturbed Sushant a lot, application states.
Describing the circumstances that led to her leaving Sushant's house, Rhea's application states-
"On the morning of 8th June, Sushant had been on his phone incessantly and when the applicant enquired what he was doing, he showed her messages he was exchanging with his sister Priyanka Singh between 10:14 am and 10:18 am. The applicant was shocked upon reading the said messages as his sister Priyanka had sent him a list of medications to take. The applicant explained to Sushant that given the seriousness of his condition, and the fact that he already had medications prescribed by his doctors who had examined and treated him over several months, he ought not to take any other medication, least of all medication being prescribed by his sister who had no medical qualifications.
The applicant also warned him about the ill effects of mixing a cocktail of such unlawfully prescribed medication with his ongoing drug habit of smoking cigarettes containing Ganja and the serious implications it could have on his well being. Sushant and the applicant disagreed on this aspect and he insisted that he would only take the medicine his sister was prescribing him. He proceeded to ask the applicant to leave the house with her bag and baggage and other belongings as his sister Meetu was coming to live with him and would take care of him."
Rhea further contends that she suffered from her own anxiety issues and often endured panic attacks. The conduct of Sushant also aggravated these conditions, the application states. However, she states that she was not comfortable leaving Sushant alone and even arranged for a therapy session with Dr.Susan Walker for herself. Although she requested Sushant if she could leave after the session but he insisted that she leave before his sister arrived. This was the last time the applicant saw Sushant alive, the application states.
Furthermore, the next day, on June 9, she received a text from Sushant but she did not respond as she was "extremely anxious and unclear about his behaviour." She went ahead and blocked his phone number on the same day. On June 10, Sushant called Showik to ask about Rhea's well being. The applicant argues that this made it clear, he did not want her to come back because "usually when he asked her to leave, he would always ask her to come back."
Rhea and Showik's bail application will come up for hearing before Justice SV Kotwal tomorrow.
