Noted academician and former member of the Law Commission of India, Prof. (Dr.) Mool Chand Sharma passed away on Monday.

He was a distinguished Professor of Law at the Delhi University and the Founder, Vice Chancellor of the Central University of Haryana (CUH).

As per the CUH Website, Prof. Sharma held a Doctorate of Juridical Science (SJD) from North-Western University Law School, Chicago.

Further, he served on the following positions during his career:

  • Vice-Chairperson, UGC
  • Director, NLIU Bhopal
  • Senior Research Advisor, NHRC
  • Expert Legal Advisor, Law Commission of India
  • Member, National Commission for Women
  • National Research Advisor, Ford Foundation
  • Joint Registrar of Research, Supreme Court

Recently, he contributed to the Book titled 'The Constitution of India: Celebrating and Calibrating 70 Years – A Compendium of Articles', which was presented to President of India by the Bar Association of India last month.
