The Bar Council of India has clarified that no call for abstention from work/ strike has been given by it for today i.e. 11.03.2019 or for any other day and a letter circulating in Social media to that effect is forged.

A letter written in a letter head of Bar Council of India with signature of J. R. Sharma, Additional Secretary, BCI was being widely shared in Whatsapp and Facebook. The said letter, which looked clearly a work of Photoshop editing, claimed that the strike is being conducted in response to 'brutal assault on lawyers in Jaipur and Chandigarh'.

"This document/letter is forged and is the work of some mischief monger and may kindly be ignored. There was no call to abstain for work also on 07.03.2019 as the forged letter states." Srimanto Sen, Secretary, Bar Council of India said in a press release today.

BCI has also requested all concerned to ignore such forged letter and also reiterated that no call for abstention for work has been given by BCI for 11.03.2019 or for any other date subsequent to it.
