[Fight Against COVID-19] Jharkhand HC Judges To Contribute Rs. 25,000 Each Towards PM CARES Fund [Read Notice]

The same was intimated by way of a notice which states,

"In view of the outbreak of the pandemic of COVID-19, which has engulfed the entire world posing serious challenges for millions of people worldwide with India being no exception, in order to effectively tackle the threat and the dangers stemming from the highly contagious virus, it is imperative that concerted efforts towards the same must be made. For the past few days, there has been an upsurge in the number of COVID-19 cases in India. In this hour of need, the Hon'ble Chief Justice and the Hon'ble Judges of the Jharkhand High Court have decided to contribute generously for the cause and salvation of humankind.

Accordingly, it has been decided that the Hon'ble Chief Justice and the Judges of the Hon'ble High Court of Jharkhand shall contribute by way of donation to the Prime Ministers' Citizens' Assistance relief in emergency situation (PM Cares) fund by donating As. 25,000 individually."

The Indian judiciary has lately been conscious of the need to act in concert during this humanitarian crisis. In view thereof, all the Supreme Court Judges had donated Rs. Rs. 50,000/- each towards the fund.

Similarly, all the judges of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir have contributed Rs. 25,000/- each and the judges of the High Court of Patna have contributed Rs. 10,000/- each for the welfare of the affected persons.

Notably, these contributions are exempted under Section 80C of the Income Tax Act.
