"Farmers Acts Passed Sans Discussion With Farmers, Aimed At Benefitting 'Big' Companies": Bar Council of Delhi Supports Farmers' Protest, Bandh

Bar Council of Delhi has come out in support of the ongoing Farmers Protests. Today's Press Release states that it "fully supports the demand of the farmers" and "urges upon the Govermment of India to consider the genuine demands of the farmer community".

The Press Release states that the lawyer fraternity of India has decided to lend their support to the farmers and shall join the BHARAT BAND on 8 December upon the call given by Farmers Union. 

"The leaders of the Bar Associations addressed the farmers at Singhu Border and told them that Legal Fraternity will intensify the agitation at all India level if the demands of the farmers are not met. Meanwhile the co-ordination committee of all Bar Associations of Delhi have decided to hold protest on 8h December against the Farmer Bill in all Court Complexes"

Calling Govt's action of going ahead with enacting the Farmer Bill without discussion with the farmers as well as the representatives of the Bar "astonishing", the, BCD states that the Legal Fraternity has found the bill "unreasonable, arbitrary and unjust" upon examination.

"The Legal Fraternity after examining the bill have founded it unreasonable, arbitrary and unjust and thus the same is anti- farmer, anti-public and anti-advocates and is aimed to provide benefit to the big trading companies" 

Bar Council of Delhi has states that exclusion of clause tomato, potato and onion from the Essential Commodities Act will make these essentials out of reach from the public and on one hand the farmers will not get any guarantee for MSP and on the other hand they will not get justice in regard to any dispute raised on any issues as the Jurisdiction of Civil Court is barred and the adjudication rights have been given to SDM and ADM who directly work under the dictate of the Ministers and MLA.
