The Supreme Court Advocates on Record Association has expressed their solidarity with the persons affected during riots in North Eastern portions of Delhi and has resolved to provide them with legal assistance.

The Executive Committee of the SCAORA along with the members of the Bar had visited the violence affected areas on March 1, pursuant to which an emergent meeting of Executive Committee was convened today.

As per the press release issued by the Association, the SCAORA will facilitate legal assistance to affected persons in co-ordination with DSLSA .

In this regard, it has requested all its members to contribute funds for the compensation and rehabilitation of the affected person, which will in the first instance be deposited in the SCAORA bank account and then remitted exclusively for that purpose. Such contribution may be given in SCAORA Office.

The SCAORA has expressed deep anguish at the loss of lives and property and it has urged all the stake holders be it administration, the law enforcement agencies, the judiciary or public-spirited NGOs/ Individuals to take immediate remedial steps in order to restore normalcy in the capital city.

The SCAORA Executive Committee along with the members of the Bar had visited the violence affected areas of North East Delhi on 01/03/2020 pursuant to which an emergent meeting of SCAORA Executive Committee was convened today i.e., on 03.03.2020. It was resolved that:-

i. SCAORA Executive Committee and the members express their solidarity with the affected persons and their families.

ii. SCAORA Executive Committee and the members express deep anguish at the loss of lives and property and offer their condolences to the bereaved families.

iii. SCAORA in co-ordination with DSLSA (Ms.Vidhi Gupta Secretary DLSA SHAHDARA(Mobile:7042696861) and 24*7 toll free number 1516 and 24*7 mobile numbers 9667992793, 9667992794 and 9667992795), will facilitate legal assistance to the affected persons.

iv. All members are requested to generously contribute funds for the compensation and rehabilitation of the affected persons, which will in the first instance be deposited in the SCAORA bank account and then remitted exclusively for that purpose. Such contribution may kindly be given in SCAORA Office.

v. In the light of the ground situation, SCAORA earnestly and sincerely appeals to each stake holder be it administration, the law enforcement agencies, the judiciary or public-spirited NGOs/ Individuals to take immediate remedial steps in order to restore normalcy and faith in rule of law.
