The Delhi High Court recently disposed of a PIL seeking adequate infrastructure and facilities for lawyers and litigants at the Rouse Avenue Court in the city.

A Division Bench of Chief Justice DN Patel and Justice Jyoti Singh has directed the District Judge, in charge of the court complex, to decide the representation made to it by the petitioner, Labour Law Association, in this regard.

"A representation dated 10.12.2019 (Annexure P-1 to the memo of the writ petition) has already been preferred by the Petitioner. Respondent No.1 is directed to look into the grievances ventilated by the Petitioner in the representation and take a decision thereon, as expeditiously as possible, in accordance with law," the Bench ordered.

The petitioner-Association had sought facility of bar-room on third floor for labour lawyers, library, computer facility, photo copier machine, notary, oath commissioner, canteen, creche facility and all other facilities which are required for advocates and litigants.

After hearing Advocate Meghna De for the Petitioner, the court was of the opinion that sufficient it will be to direct the Respondent authority to take a decision on the issue.

Liberty was however granted to the Petitioner to approach the Court or the appropriate Forum in case of any surviving grievance or any further cause of action.

Standing Counsel Ankit Jain appeared for Respondent with Advocates Abhay Pratap Singh and Mohina Anand.
