11 Benches Of The Delhi High Court To Conduct Physical Hearing Till 20th February

In a recent order dated 14.01.2021, the Delhi High Court has announced that 11 benches of the High Court shall conduct physical hearings from 18.01.2021. The subject of the order states "Extension of Present System of Hearing of Matters before Delhi High Court till 20.02.2021".
The order came in the view of decline in the intensity of spread of covid-19 pandemic in the NCT of Delhi.
According to the order, the division of the 11 benches are as follows:
- 2 Division Benches
- 3 Single Benches (Civil Side)
- 3 Single Benches (Criminal Side)
- 3 benches having Original Jurisdiction (Civil Side)
The order however clarified that the other remaining benches of the High Court shall continue to hear cases through video conferencing as per the roster which is soon to be notified on the Delhi High Court website.
Furthermore, the order also states that all the benches of the High Court shall continue to hear matters as per the existing arrangements including the cases which were instituted in the years 2018, 2019 and 2020.
It is further provided in the order that the courts of Joint Registrars (Judicial) shall hold physical courts as well as through video conferencing on alternate day basis as per the schedule notified in the roster. This shall be done with effect from 18.01.2021. The Joint Registrar Courts are also directed to start recording evidences in all the cases.
The has also been notified by the order that all other pending routine or non urgent matters listed before the High Court from 18th January to 20th February 2021 will be adjourned en bloc to the new date of hearing in the months of March and April.
The order also requests all the advocates, litigants and other court visitors coming to the High Court complex for physical hearings to strictly adhere to the norms of social distancing and other covid-19 guidelines issued by the Central and the State Government.
