The Delhi High Court has denied bail to an astrologer, accused of inappropriately touching a woman, who was also his client, and later stabbing her with a knife allegedly under the pretext of performing 'human sacrifice' during a puja.

Justice Yogesh Khanna rejected the bail plea of the man after the prosecutrix alleged that she was cheated by him for a sum of Rs. 1.5 lakhs to improve her mother's health and also to solve her personal problems.

According to the prosecutrix, the astrologer harassed her since last one and half years and that on 4th May 2018, he took her to a Hotel in Delhi wherein it was informed by him that a Pooja will be performed lasting for about three and half hours.

It was the case of the prosecutrix that the Astrologer-accused kept chanting mantras for about two hours and after giving a break, asked the prosecutrix to sit on the bed after which she was inappropriately touched by him. She also alleged that he gave a knife blow at her neck.

Thereafter, the prosecutrix was allegedly stabbed by him with knife after she tried to run away from the hotel room.

It was thus submitted by the Additional Public Prosecutor MS Oberoi that the accused was probably trying to perform a human sacrifice, during which the prosecutrix suffered total seven injuries, including three on her neck.

Observing that the Prosecutrix's cross-examination was yet to be conducted, the Court denied bail to the accused.

"No ground for bail is made at this stage. The petition stands dismissed. Pending application(s), if any, also stands disposed of," the Court said.

However, liberty was granted to the accused to move an application after the cross-examination of the witness was complete.
