The Delhi High Court on Wednesday rejected the plea of Ratul Puri seeking a copy of his statements made under Section 50(2) of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

Ratul Puri, nephew of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath, is one of the prime accused in the Augusta Westland money laundering scandal.

Earlier, the High Court had also refused to grant anticipatory bail to Ratul Puri citing the need to effectively investigate the case by ensuring his interrogation in custody.

Earlier on August 6, a CBI court had rejected Ratul Puri's plea for anticipatory bail and for providing him with his statements made under section 50(2) of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. Under the said provision, the statements made before the ED are admissible as evidence before the court.

The petitioner had argued that the Trial Court's decision violated Puri's rights of natural justice. Moreover, while disposing of the application, the court did not look into the grounds brought to its notice by the petitioner, it was argued.
