Delhi High Court has initiated a suo motu matter concerning the issue of expediting the trials against MPs/MLAs.

The said suo motu matter has been initiated after the direction of the Supreme Court on September 16 whereby all the high courts were directed to formulate a framework to expedite the pending trials against Members of Parliament and the Members of Legislative Assemblies.

Today, the Division Bench of Chief Justice DN Patel and Justice Prateek Jalan also issued notices to the Central Government, the Delhi Government, and the Registry of the high court with regards to this suo motu matter.

Currently, the Rouse Avenue court in Delhi has been designated as a Special Court to take up matters concerning the MPs and MLAs.
