During her farewell speech held via video conferencing, Justice Sehgal told that her father, who was an Advocate at the Delhi High Court, inspired her to pursue Law. She recollected her journey in the legal industry starting from 1985, when she joined the Delhi Judicial Services to her days as Commissioner, MCD whereby she got an opportunity to visit the slums in Delhi and get first-hand experience of the practical difficulties faced by the people living in the slums.
"This assignment inspired me to write a book titled as An Exhaustive Guide to the Slum Area (Improvement & Clearance) Act, 1956," she said.
She also recalled the days when she was given the "mammoth task" of bifurcation of Delhi District Courts into Five zones.
"The work of all Metropolitan Magistrates of Delhi was to be rationalized to secure equal distribution of criminal cases in the capital and supervise functioning of 110 MMs in Delhi including Special Municipal Magistrates dealing with Traffic Challans and cases of Municipal Corporation Act," she said.
Justice Sehgal served as the Registrar General for the Delhi High Court from April, 2013 to December, 2014 and also worked as Registrar (Vigilance).
She was elevated to the Bench of High Court of Delhi as an "Additional Judge" on 15th December, 2014 and became a Permanent Judge on 2nd June, 2016.
During her time at the Delhi High Court, she said, "I had the privilege of being guided and showered by the wisdom of my brother and sister Judges of this Court whom I would like to thank.
