Delhi Court Grants Interim Bail To Engineer Rashid To Campaign For J&K Polls

A Delhi Court on Tuesday granted interim bail to Baramulla MP Engineer Rashid in order to campaign cor upcoming Jammu and Kashmir assembly polls.

Additional Sessions Judge Chander Jit Singh of Patiala House Courts granted interim bail to Rashid till October 02.

Rashid defeated former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

He has won by a margin of over two lakh votes from Baramulla Lok Sabha constituency.

Rashid has been in jail since 2019 after he was charged by NIA under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in alleged terror funding case. He is presently lodged in Tihar jail. 

Earlier, the court had granted custody parole to Rashid in order to permit him to take oath as a member of Parliament.

Legislative Assembly elections are scheduled to be held in Jammu and Kashmir from September 18 to October 01. They will be conducted in three phases. Results will be declared on October 08.
