The Delhi Commission for Women on Tuesday took suo moto cognizance on media reports regarding the rape threats given to Indian Cricket Team Captain Virat Kohli's 9 months old daughter after he supported a fellow cricketer after he was trolled on social media over his religion.
"It has been reported that online threats are being given to rape the 9 month old girl child of Virat Kohli since the team's defeat in the recent India Pakistan cricket match. It is learnt that he is being also attacked since he spoke against the incessant trolling of his team mate Md. Shami who was targeted for his religion by online trolls. This is a very serious matter and attracts immediate action," the notice issued by DCW Chairman Swati Maliwal reads.
The Commission while taking cognizance of the matter has asked the Cyber Crime Cell for registering an FIR against persons who gave rape threats to the child.
The DCW has therefore sought the Copy of FIR registered in the matter from the Deputy Commissioner of Police along with the details of accused persons identified and arrested latest by November 8.
"If no accused has been arrested, please provide the details of steps taken by Delhi Police to arrest the accused," the notice adds.
A Detailed action taken report is also sought in the matter.
