The Delhi High Court has sought the response of self styled godman Daati Maharaj to a case filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation challenging the anticipatory bail granted to him by the Additional Sessions Judge in a rape case.

In June 2018, he was accused of rape by a former student of the school run by him in Alawas, Pali district.

The counsel for the CBI challenged the interim protection provided to the self styled God man who is accused of rape. 'Additional Sessions Judge erroneously granted anticipatory bail while reviewing a disposed off matter', CBI argued.

Justice Chander Shekhar directed the respondents to file a reply in four weeks.

Earlier, the Delhi High Court had rejected Daati Maharaj's plea asking for his case to not to be transferred to the CBI. The court had noted that the way investigation was carried out by police 'casts a shadow on the investigation'.

The next date of hearing is December 11.
