COVID: Delhi District Courts To Start Hearing On Urgent Matters Through Video Conferencing Mode Till July 23

The Delhi District Courts will be taking up 'final arguments cases' and urgent matters for hearing via video conferencing mode with effect from July 1 to July 23.
According to the office order issued by the Registrar General of the Delhi High Court dated 28th June, it has been resolved that a wait and watch policy will be adopted while reviewing the existing arrangement of hearing of matters before the High Court and district courts in view of the loss of lives of judical officers, court staff and advocates.
"The Hon'ble Full Court, while reviewing the existing arrangement of hearing of matters before the Delhi High Court and the District Courts in Delhi, has observed that despite there being decline in the number of Covid-19 cases in the NCT of Delhi, utmost precaution needs to be taken in view of the predicted third wave and limited availability of vaccines.Considering the threat of Delta Plus, a variant of concern (VoC), the Hon'ble Full Court has, therefore, resolved to adopt a policy of wait and watch, and to act cautiously, particularly in view of the loss of precious lives of judicial officers, advocates and court-staff." The office order reads.
Furthermore, it has been stated thus:
"All the judicial officers of the District Courts in Delhi shal take up urgent matters and final arguments cases' of their respective courts through video-conferencing till 23.07.2021 while the other matters shall be adjourned by them. All the stakeholders are also advised to get themselves vaccinated at the earliest."
It has additionally been resolved that the High Court will hear only urgent matters through video conferencing mode from July 3 to July 27 in view of the predicted third wave, limited amount of vaccines and Delta Plus Covid Variant.
All the Benches of the High Court as well as the Courts of Registrars/Joint Registrars (Judicial) shall continue to take up urgent matters, as per the existing arrangement, through video-conferencing till July 23.
Additionally, the casesinstituted in the year 2020 shall also be taken up by this Court, as per roster, w.e.f. 03.07.2021." the office order reads.
