COVID-19: Plea Moved In Delhi HC Seeking Evacuation Of Indian Students Stranded in Bangladesh

Plea has been moved in the Delhi High Court seeking evacuation of students who are stranded in Bangladesh due to the outbreak of COVID19 pandemic.

Seeking the urgent attention of Indian authorities, the Petitioner has highlighted that there are around 581 such students in Bangladesh whose welfare and well being is at stake.

Further, it also pointed out by the Petitioner that most of these 581 students actually hail from Jammu & Kashmir.

The Petitioner was informed about this situation by one of the many students who are stranded in Bangladesh. In an email written to him, one of the students had said that the students are facing many difficulties, even masks and hand sanitizers are not made available to them.

It was further written in the mail that all the students are restricted to their hostel rooms, and even the mess facilities have been closed down.

The student went on to highlight in his cry for help that due to the complete lockdown in the city, they can't even procure essential goods for their subsistence.

'If we will die, we would want to die in front of our parents', he wrote.

In light of this email, the Petitioner has sought urgent directions of the court, asking Ministry of External Affairs to take action and initiate the process of bringing these students back home.

The Delhi HC had on Wednesday issued directions to the Ministry of External Affairs to ensure the well-being of Indian students stranded in Almaty airport in Kazakhstan.
