In order to prevent overcrowding in its premises during the prevalent threat of COVID-19, the National Company Law Tribunal on Thursday decided to close the filing counters at all of its benches till March 27.
"It is observed that all NCLT Benches have become crowded at filing counters, which may lead to community transmission of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-10) therefore, it is decided to close the filing counters of all the NCLT Benches hereof.
Hence, filing counters of all the NCLT Benches shall remain closed till 27.03.2020," a notice issued by the Registrar General of NCLT Delhi read.
The Tribunal has clarified that in case of limitation issue, matters may be filed online at Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Amravati and Jaipur and hard copy of the filings may be handed over when the filing counters are opened.
With regards to the other benches of the NCLT, i.e. benches at Ahmedabad, Allahabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Guwahati, Kolkata, Cuttack, Kochi and Indore, an application (without annexures) as to the limitation issue may be filed through email of respective Registrars.
The court has further advised the parties to not make filings, unless the matter is likely to be hit by limitation, till the pandemic threat subsides.
