In view of the alarming rise in the COVID-19 cases in Jharkhand and Ranchi in particular, the Jharkhand High Court has ordered that all the Hon'ble Benches of the Court shall, with effect from 26th April 2021, take up extremely urgent matters filed in the year 2021 only, through video conferencing mode.

It has been further ordered by the High Court that other pending routine/nonurgent matters and the matters listed before this Court during the period from 26.04.2021 onwards till further orders shall not be taken up by the court and such matters stand adjourned.

However, in case of any extreme urgency, the request in the pending matters may be made in the respective email id of the courts.

On the other hand, all the Subordinate Courts of Uttarakhand will remain closed from 26th April 2021 to 02nd May 2021 and the High Court will resume work w.e.f 03rd May 2021 (Monday).

Further, considering the imminent danger to human life by the sudden spread of COVID-19 virus, in view of the health guidelines issued by the Government of India, and the State Government.' and for the safety of litigants, advocates, officers, and staff of the Subordinate Courts, the Chief Justice of the Uttarakhand High Court has issued the following directions in the larger public interest: -

  • Where due to extreme urgency arising from any extraordinary Circumstances, and the hearing of the matter can not wait till 03.05.2021, the Advocate concerned may request for hearing during the said period.
  • Advocates may send their requests to the e-mail address of the District Court concerned along with details of the facts of the case justifying the extraordinary circumstances that matter be taken up, despite the Courts being closed.
  • Every District Judges will get an e-mail address created for all the Courts of the Judgeship for the aforesaid purpose. The details of the e-mail address shall be displayed on the official website of the Judgeship.
  • District Judges will also publish details of one Judicial Officer, nominated by him, with his contact details in the official website, who may be contacted by the advocates for any information for the aforesaid purpose.
  • District Judge will decide as to if any matter requires an urgent hearing during the aforesaid period, and where he is of the opinion that the matter should be taken up during the aforesaid closure of the Courts, the matter shall be forwarded to the Jurisdiction Court.
  • The matters shall be heard exclusively through Video Conferencing
  • All the Subordinate Courts will take up work relating to remand, bail and temporary injunctions from 03.05.2021 (Monday), exclusively through Video Conferencing and in the manner aforesaid.
  • The directions regarding the urgent work, which may be taken up by the Subordinate Courts, in addition to the work relating to remand, bail, and temporary injunctions from 03.05.2021, if necessary, will follow in the due course.
