The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to completely seal areas across 15 districts of the State where the threat of Corona Virus has been found to be dangerously excessive.

Issued by UP's Chief Secretary, R.K. Tiwari, the decision was taken after a high level examination across the state identified these districts as hotspots for COVID-19. These districts include-

  1. Lucknow
  2. Agra
  3. Gaziabad
  4. Gautambudh Nagar
  5. Kanpur
  6. Varanasi
  7. Shamli
  8. Meerut
  9. Bareilly
  10. Bulandshahar
  11. Firozabad
  12. Maharajganj
  13. Sitapur
  14. Saharanpur
  15. Basti

Since the numbers in these areas are high, and to prevent community spread of the same, the order will come into effect from midnight of April 9, 2020.

Authorities and police officials have been directed to ensure strict adherence to the lockdown and maintenance of social distancing. Towards this end, no shops or sabzi mandis will be allowed to stay open and provisions only for home delivery of essentials will be made.

Laying emphasis on strict compliance of the lockdown, authorities have been directed to ensure regular patrolling in these areas where no one except medical care professionals and others engaged in providing essential services are to be allowed to come out on the streets.

Additionally, to tackle the heightened threat in these districts, it has been ordered that 100% houses will be scanned and sanitised.
