In view of the "alarming and mounting" number of Corona virus cases in the state, the Chhattisgarh High Court has recalled its circular for regular functioning of the High Court as well as the Subordinate courts.

It is intimated that with effect from Wednesday, May 27, the functioning of the High Court as well as the Courts Subordinate to the High Court will be restricted to hearing of cases of extreme urgent nature like bail application, suspension of sentence applications etc.

On May 16, the High Court had announced that it will start regular/ normal functioning w.e.f. May 18, 2020 and only a limited number of cases (fresh cases and more than 05 years old cases) will be taken up for hearing.

An administrative order issued today however states,

"functioning of the High Court as well as the Courts Subordinate to the High Court shall revert back to the system which was prevailing prior to 18.05.2020.

This is by restricting the consideration of the cases of extreme urgent nature like bail application, suspension of sentence applications etc. and the same protocol shall be applied in the cases of the Subordinate Courts as well, at least for a period till 15.06.2020 and the position is brought under control."

This decision shall be subject to further modification based on the norms/guidelines issued by the Central Government as well as by the State Government, from time to time.
