Madras High Court has issued a circular stating that all judicial proceedings in the High Court will only be conducted through video conferencing in wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The circular has been issued in order to completely secure the premises of the High Court and to prevent the spread of any infection after it was found that the State Government Counsel's Office assistant tested positive for COVID-19.

The court-halls will also not be available for any judicial functions. This is being done in a bid to sanitise the halls so that they can be rendered hygienically fit for future use.

The circular further states that all judicial functioning by the judges as per the roster assigned will continue through video-conferences, until further orders are issued.
