The Chief Justice of India recently inaugurated Mediation Centres at two Districts of Madhya Pradesh, raising the total figure to 43 ADR Centres and 44 Mediation Centres at Tehsil level in the state.

The Mediation Centres have been set up at Bijawar, District Chhatarpur and Kasrawad, District Mandleshwar.

Further, two Community Mediation Centres were also inaugurated, one each of the Nema and Gond (Tribal) Community in Jabalpur.

This flagship Community Mediation Programme of MPSLSA will benefit 46 recognized Scheduled Tribes in the state, three of whom have been identified as 'Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups.'

The programme is designed to extend the reach of Alternative Dispute Resolution Mechanism, to the level of the community through volunteers trained to resolve disputes within the society. The training has been inclusive of varied aspects of the psychology of conflict, negotiation, bargaining, overcoming impasse and drafting mediation agreements.

Furthermore, in tune with the Litigation Free Village Scheme of MPSLSA where at least one village in each Taluka is supported by the Legal Services Institution to promote free and proactive legal aid mechanisms for dispute resolution, the CJI inaugurated five such villages, namely:

  • Village Bija, Tehsil Patan, District Jabalpur
  • Village Umargohan, Tehsil Rajendragram, District Anuppur
  • Village Kathora, Tehsil Kasrawad, District Mandleshwar
  • Village Melpada, Tehsil & District Jhabua
  • Village Barbaspur, Tehsil Chhapara, District Seoni
  • Village Devhiri, Tehsil Khilchipur, District Rajgarh
  • Village Bangaon, Tehsil & District Chhindwara

The programme was also attended by the Acting Chief Justice of the High Court Sanjay Yadav and other companion judges of MP.
